Valve shim tappets on cylinder heads from the factory are set to be within a range. An example of a manufacturer’s specifications can be from .010” to .015” on some cylinder heads which is a .005″ variation. Mass produced cylinder heads are usually within the manufacturer’s specifications, but we recheck in Australia to ensure specifications are met.

Having the correct valve tappet clearance ensures your valves will have the optimal time to cool which helps prevent your valves burning out prematurely. At OWEP all the cylinder head faces are inspected thoroughly, valve seats are vacuum tested to ensure perfect seals and if required additional machining is carried out in our workshop.

On average OzWIDE Engine Parts spends 1.5-2 hours to fine tune every complete cylinder head to ensure they meet our quality controls and are within original manufacturer’s specifications..  We have aligned ourselves with manufacturers that we believe set our heads apart from others.
